A rustic (and rusted!) water tank advertising Burfords Soap. W. H. Burford and Sons was a soap and candle-making business founded in Adelaide in 1840 by William Burford, an English butcher who arrived in Australia in 1838. Burfords was one of the earliest soap making businesses in the country and continued to manufacture its signature soap until the 1960s. This clever advertisment sign appears on a water tank for good reason - you can't wash yourself without water! These old tanks can still be found on the The Sydney to Perth rail corridor - a 1435 mm railway route that runs for 4352 kilometres (2704 mi) across Australia - and often advertise water-related products like soap, tea or beer.
Printed on acid-free matte paper which is suitable for framing.
